Ben Salfield

In early 2014 Ben Salfield made contact through Facebook and offered to play a concert in the church. Photos from the concert can be seen here: Ben Salfield Recital April 2014. The concert was such a success that he returned with “The Horsemen of the Apocalypse”. In 2015 Ben set up the inaugural Veryan International recital series and we are delighted that he has agreed to continue this series into 2016 with a further 6 concerts run through his promotional arm Kernow Concerts. One of the world’s leading lutenists, Ben Salfield was born in Staffordshire in 1971, and has lived in Cornwall since childhood. He began learning the lute with Ian Thomson at Truro Guitar Studios in 1984, but after his teacher moved away he was self-taught. He made his concert debut at St Ives, Cornwall, UK, in 1988, and performed 2 months later for the Lute Society in Queens Square, London. Since then he has appeared both as a soloist and in various ensembles at leading festivals and venues all over Europe. As a promoter, he currently runs Kernow Concerts.

Ben Salfield only performs on Kif Wood instruments, and his strings of choice are Hannabach Super Low Tension.
