December 2016 News

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in our joint benefice Remembrance Sunday service. Muffled tolling of the tenor bell [thanks,
Douglas and Arthur], the act of remembrance at the war memorial, when representatives of both parishes and all three churches were involved,
and the bugle calls and two minutes’ silence, were all perfectly performed. Huge thanks to Phil, David, Joyce, Carol, and Sarah, for making the whole event so good. Thank you to Sue for dressing the altar with the Union flag and regimental kneelers, and also to Chris and Selina for reading
the lessons. And we were so pleased to welcome Canon Graham Minors, former rector of Bodmin, who took the service for us; he was pleased to
be invited, and would love to come back after Christmas.
Our Christmas services are listed on the back page of the magazine: it will
be so good to see Canon Doug back after his necessary six month ‘exile’! But do bear in mind that he is retired – and won’t be taking every service.
But he may well [if we ask nicely] make a guest appearance occasionally!
Our last concert of 2016 is on 9 December, with Ben Salfield himself performing. Don’t miss this – it will be an outstanding end to this season’s recitals, and we’re already planning for next year…
